About the Modify black outline icon
A long pencil, complete with a shaded ferrule band and a sharpened triangular tip, angles down into the top-right corner of a square frame whose outline breaks open to let the pencil through. It signals edit, update, rename or compose and fits inline edit buttons, note-taking apps, profile settings screens, CMS toolbars and admin table row actions.
The square occupies the lower-left area while the pencil runs a clean 45-degree diagonal, so the two shapes balance and the gap in the border reads as intentional.
