About the Edit black outline icon
A long pencil with a faceted tip and a banded eraser end lies diagonally across a rounded square, with the frame deliberately broken where the pencil passes so the tool appears to sit on top of the page. It is the standard signal for edit, compose, rename or annotate, making it right for edit buttons in tables and profiles, note-taking apps, CMS toolbars, form fields and document management screens.
The pencil runs corner to corner at forty-five degrees and extends beyond the square, which keeps the two shapes distinct at small sizes.
