A rounded square frame opens at its top right corner, where a long diagonal pencil crosses through it with a sharpened tip pointing down-left and a banded ferrule near the top. It reads instantly as edit, compose, rename or update. Use it on form fields, note-taking apps, profile settings, CMS toolbars and table rows that need an inline edit control.
The broken frame lines let the pencil pass through cleanly instead of sitting on top, which keeps the shape readable at button size. Pair it with delete, save and duplicate icons in the same toolbar. A 24 px target with a 2 px stroke works well.
