About the Gear black filled icon
A cogwheel with twelve squared teeth spaced evenly around its rim, four curved cutouts forming spokes inside the body, and a double-ring hub at the center. It is the standard shorthand for settings, configuration, mechanics and things that keep running. Use it for preference menus, admin panels, engineering and manufacturing sites, maintenance dashboards, and process or workflow diagrams.
The teeth are short and blunt rather than pointed, and the four spoke openings give the wheel visible depth instead of a solid disc. It lines up neatly with wrench, cog pair and screwdriver icons. At small sizes the fill version holds up better, since the narrow spoke gaps can close in outline.
This is the solid black filled version of the gear icon: a bold silhouette that reads clearly at 16-24 px and on dark or busy backgrounds, and prints well in one colour.
It downloads free as an SVG vector or transparent PNG in seven sizes, and the free online editor lets you recolor it, apply gold, silver, neon and gradient styles, add animation, or convert it to EPS, PDF and DXF.
