Edit black filled icon
Pencil drawn diagonally over an open rounded square note frame
About the Edit black filled icon
A diagonal pencil with its shaved tip pointing down-left crosses the top-right corner of a rounded square frame, and the frame outline breaks where the pencil enters it. That open corner makes the square read as a note being written rather than a sealed document, so the pair communicates editing, drafting and revision. Use it for edit buttons in CMS dashboards, compose actions in note apps, inline form field editing, and annotation tools.
The square uses a generous corner radius and an even stroke weight, while the pencil sits at roughly 45 degrees with a small separated tip facet and a short band near its end. It pairs naturally with trash, save and duplicate icons from the same set. Keep it at 24px or larger so the pencil tip stays readable.
This is the solid black filled version of the edit icon: a bold silhouette that reads clearly at 16-24 px and on dark or busy backgrounds, and prints well in one colour.
It downloads free as an SVG vector or transparent PNG in seven sizes, and the free online editor lets you recolor it, apply gold, silver, neon and gradient styles, add animation, or convert it to EPS, PDF and DXF.
