An open circle with rounded ends leaves a gap at the top, and a separate vertical bar with rounded caps rises through that gap, forming the standard power mark. It reads as switching a system on or off, so it belongs on shutdown and log-out menus, standby toggles, smart home device controls, hardware product pages and app settings panels.
The bar is drawn as a detached stroke rather than merging with the ring, which keeps the gap crisp at any weight, and the circle's ends curve inward symmetrically. Use it with restart, sleep and settings gear icons. It stays clear down to 16 px, since the shape relies on one gap.
