About the Pencil black outline icon
A pencil lies on a 45-degree diagonal with a faceted sharpened point at the lower left, two long lines running the length of the barrel, a banded ferrule near the top and a squared eraser cap. It stands for editing, writing, sketching and taking notes, which makes it right for edit buttons, note-taking and drawing apps, form fields, school and course pages, and stationery or office supply stores.
The barrel is a narrow parallelogram split by parallel guide lines, ending in a triangular nib whose short cross line marks the exposed lead, while the offset ferrule block gives the top a clear silhouette. Combine it with ruler, eraser and notebook icons; at 16 px in a toolbar drop the inner barrel lines to avoid visual noise.
