About the Compact Inward Arrows black outline icon

Four identical arrows are placed at the corners of a square and all point inward toward an empty center, leaving a gap where they converge. The motion reads immediately as collapsing, compressing or shrinking something to a smaller footprint. Use it for exit full screen buttons, map zoom-out controls, file compression tools, collapse-panel toggles and image cropping or resize interfaces.

Each arrow is a chunky outlined chevron with a notched tail, and the rotational symmetry keeps the group balanced at any size. It is the natural counterpart to the four outward arrows expand icon, so ship both together in a toolbar. At 16px, thicken the stroke slightly to stop the arrow tails merging.
